GREECE: A Runner’s Forest

DASOS_DROMEON

Wow! This will become a cherished souvenir. Every runner in the Athens Marathon will receive a green scarf to commemorate as a memorial to the route burned in the devastating fire this past summer. The scarves will fashion a green river flowing through the forest.

Sponsors of the race are buying trees to rebuild the area. This will be a moment that I record a video. I just visualized a new finish line photo. THIS will be grand! Here’s a synopsis of the press release:

The president of the SEGAS said that the Federation designed a special action, the “Runners Forest”, to help restore the Marathon route, which from the 12th to the 16th kilometer was destroyed from the lethal fires of July.” With this action,” said Panagopoulos, “The 36th Athens Marathon honors the memory of the victims of the disaster and sends a message of optimism and hope.”

The message will be helped by the runners themselves, since on the Marathon Day, each runner will receive a green scarf that he will be asked to wear on the part of the path that has been hit by the fire, thus creating a symbolic “green river” and sending a message of life to the millions of viewers who will watch the 36th AMA.
