What an amazing first meetup for us tonight. It was a joy getting to know everyone’s journey into the running world. Looking forward to making the 2019 Freep Ambassador team ROCK! In the end, with all of the challenges of getting into town, the experience was absolutely rewarding.

The Sporting Statues Project

A. Thomas Schomberg Bronze, 2015

The three bronze sculptures are located in a small sliver of a park directly out front of the Detroit Athletic Club (DAC). Their titles are listed in their respective order:

1. Running Back
2. The Finish
3. 6.4.3

(What is 6-4-3? I didn’t know either. It’s a baseball double play that occurs when the ball is hit to the shortstop (6), then thrown to the second baseman (4) to get the runner out, and then thrown to the first baseman (3) to get the batter out. The first out is recorded as a 6-4 out. )
