Summer’s Last Bash at the Beach 5K RECAP

September 20, 2020. Not quite summery this morning in New York, but we had sun and a strong ocean breeze headwind. The Rockaway Beach boardwalk was concrete (not my favorite), but it did allow us to social distance at the start. The participant count was capped at 45 and they didn’t have a sellout. It was enjoyable to see the beach as well as my buddy Roberto. Made some new acquaintances as well. Post race I continued to enjoy the sun until that breeze started to become a bit chilling. I haven’t been training for 5k’s so I wasn’t expecting a miracle (especially without sleep due to the overnight train ride), but I got a respectable time of 24:41/7 87 pace. Room for improvement for sure (with sleep included LOL)
